Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam

Arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport, where a Ndovu African Expeditions representative will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, take the opportunity to relax, enjoy the views of the coastal city, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Dar es Salaam is a lively city with a vibrant mix of local culture, bustling markets, and the scenic Indian Ocean coastline.

Day 2: Dar es Salaam → Nyerere National Park

After breakfast, begin your transfer to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve).

This is one of Africa’s largest and least disturbed wildlife areas. The journey itself offers a glimpse into the rural Tanzanian landscape, with scattered villages, rivers, and farmland. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive through the park’s vast plains, riverine forests, and open woodlands. Nyerere is home to large elephant herds, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and a remarkable diversity of birdlife. Day 3-4: Nyerere National Park

Optionally, enjoy a boat safari along the Rufiji River, observing wildlife from the water and photographing crocodiles, hippos, and thousands of birds in their natural habitat. Day 5: Nyerere National Park → Mikumi National Park

Arriving at Mikumi, embark on an afternoon game drive, exploring the park’s acacia-dotted plains, seasonal wetlands, and river valleys.
