This safari offers unforgettable “Big Five” encounters, thousands of wildebeests and zebras on the move, and rare sightings such as the tree climbing lions of Lake Manyara.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! You will be picked up from the airport by a Ndovu African Expeditions representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Arusha city – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your safari guide will collect you and drive to Tarangire National Park (about 2.5 hrs). Known as the “home of elephants,” Tarangire is famous for large herds gathering near the Tarangire River. You’ll also find giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, and predators like lions and leopards. The park’s majestic baobab trees and over 400 bird species make it a unique safari experience. After your game drive and picnic lunch, you’ll head to your campsite in Karatu.

Day 3: Karatu Town – Serengeti National Park

Today you will pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a chance to admire the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater from a viewpoint, before continuing into the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. Famous for its vast open plains and the Great Migration, Serengeti is home to millions of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes – followed closely by lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. After your game drive, you will camp in the heart of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Spend the whole day exploring Serengeti’s endless plains. Morning and afternoon game drives (or full day with picnic lunch) give you the best chance to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, and more. Every corner of the Serengeti holds surprises, and today will be filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

After breakfast, enjoy a morning drive as you leave Serengeti and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater – one of Africa’s natural wonders. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to around 25,000 animals, including large herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle. With luck, you may spot the endangered black rhino. After an incredible game drive and picnic lunch inside the crater, you’ll return to Karatu for overnight.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park – Departure

Your final safari day takes you to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse gem. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, elephants, and over 500 bird species, the park is a paradise of wildlife against the backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment. After a picnic lunch, you’ll return to Arusha or be dropped at the airport.
